Dr. Francois Bui has nearly two decades of experience performing cosmetic surgery and has performed hundreds of cosmetic procedures for the face and body.
His cosmetic surgery training includes training at Tulane University School of Medicine. Dr. Bui is also a member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery.
His experience includes awake liposuction and body contouring, upper and lower eyelid surgery, facelift procedures, tummy tuck, Brazilian Butt Lift, arm lift, labiaplasty, and breast fat transfer.
Dr. Bui has also received training in Asian double-eyelid surgery in South Korea, providing additional experience with eyelid anatomy and the individualized crease preferences that can be particularly important in Asian eyelid surgery.
Dr. Bui’s Approach to Cosmetic Surgery
Dr. Bui believes cosmetic surgery should begin with careful listening. The goal is not to make every patient look the same, but to understand what the patient wants to improve and what they want to preserve.
Each surgical plan is individualized to the patient’s anatomy, concerns, and aesthetic goals. His approach emphasizes careful surgical planning, attention to detail, and natural-looking improvement rather than a one-size-fits-all result.
Dr. Bui also believes that more surgery is not automatically better. The purpose of consultation is to identify which concerns are actually creating the appearance the patient wants to change and to recommend an appropriate procedure rather than simply performing a larger operation.
Awake Cosmetic Surgery at VENUS MD
A major part of Dr. Bui’s surgical approach is the use of awake surgery with local anesthesia when appropriate. This allows many cosmetic procedures to be performed without general anesthesia while keeping the patient comfortable and responsive during the procedure.
Liposuction at VENUS MD is performed awake using tumescent local anesthesia without general anesthesia in nearly all patients. Eyelid surgery and facelift procedures are also performed awake with local anesthesia.
Mini tummy tuck and full tummy tuck procedures that do not require fascial plication can also be performed using Dr. Francois Bui’s Awake Method. The anesthesia plan is individualized according to the procedure, the patient’s anatomy, and safety considerations.
